Comments: Basil Rathbone is probably the most well known Sherlock Holmes. His movies are in black and white. I find I really like Nigel Bruce as Dr Watson. He is funny and witty in his part. There is also a podcast series in which he narrates many Sherlock Holmes radio programs during the time of the war in England. Both men are very patriotic to their country and also war time themes are in some of these podcast with stories of espionage and secret plans and weapons. In Radio Detective Episode 108 it is mentioned that Basil Rathbone & Nigel Bruce were honored in San Francisco for their help in raising War Bonds. Nigel Bruce also made a plea on radio for people to save their used kitchen fat. He said there was a shortage of fat. He said the Secretary of Agriculture Anderson wants people to save the used kitchen fat and bring it to the butcher. Bruce said the shortage would affect paint, lubricating oils and so on.
